Our Take on the Program
The Good Child Guide should be an excellent resource for parents of difficult children. Keep in mind that this guide is targeted towards kids from about the age of 6-12, although you’ll be fine if your child is 5 or 13 … there’s no fine line where it stops working.
Dr. Noel Swanson writes with a very light-hearted approach. So if you expect a really “serious” manual to help you with your kids, this is not for you. If you like the casual and useful approach, then definitely give this a shot.
We think Dr. Swanson comes off with a lot of credibility here because he’s been a consultant to parents for over 17 years. We couldn’t find any evidence that he actually consults anymore, but it does appear that he did a lot of work with families in his career – and there’s nothing wrong with migrating to author status and giving up the consultancy.
We have a copy of The Good Child Guide. It is well written and easy to follow. The opening premise of the book is that children do what they do simply because they WANT to. In other words, the only way to change a child’s behavior is to change how he or she thinks about the consequences of such behavior (whether the consequences are good or bad). Dr. Swanson uses a lot of real-life examples to explain how to make these changes in a child’s behavior through the use of rewards and punishments. A light read and easy to understand, it is both a parenting manual and a tool in making your family fun and stress-free.
Are there books you can buy on this same topic? Yes, surely there are. But if you are looking for a practical “do it now” manual that you can read in one evening (it’s about 128 pages), this is a good product. If you buy a 300 page book that you don’t bother finishing, it’s got no value to you. This ebook from Dr. Swanson is an easy read.

Guarantee Policy
The guarantee offered by Allegro Publishing, the company behind the book, is unusual because it is NOT your typical 60-day guarantee. They actually offer a 90-day guarantee, which is a full 3 months. We believe this guarantee IS genuine (no credible author would stake his reputation on a fake guarantee). Please do not use this guarantee as a way to buy the book today and simply ask for a refund tomorrow. That behavior is really unethical and discouraged.
